WE MOVED!!!

Well, it is official. We bought a new house. As you can see from the picture it is not the home we were building. This house is in Piedmont schools and we are very happy. Maybe now I can blog about something other than building and buying a house. We moved in this past weekend. I will post inside pictures after I get things put in their places.

So frustrating.

The builder we are/were using is Brass Brick Homes. Here is a very interesting article about them http://www.newsok.com/trouble-builds-for-local-developers/article/3311080. Needless to say, the company is in trouble. We have been hearing a lot of rumors about them going bankrupt. We also know that they have a lot of unpaid contractors. Also, they have not touched the house since that last picture was taken. 3 weeks ago today!! They also will not tell us anything in terms of when or if they will resume work. We were scheduled to close on October 31st and now the owner has told me they will "try" to finish if by January!! It is making me a crazy person and I think we are going to just find an existing house to buy. I can't do this anymore.

Actually looking like a house now.......

The house is all the way bricked, and completely painted inside and out. The lighting has been delivered and should be put in this week. It is getting close and we are getting so anxious. We got an email Friday that said to expect a closing at the end of October!! Have I mentioned not having a house is hard?

We now have brick!

Our house is being bricked now. We have walls, bathtubs, closet shelves, wood floors, trim work, all of the doors, the fireplace and our cabinets were delivered on Tuesday. Things are moving really fast and are "on schedule". We should be moving in right after Halloween.

Besides waiting for our house to be finished, the Halls have been very sick. It started with Mitchell a little over 2 weeks ago and then McKinley, Eric and now me. It stinks big time. It is the head cold fever coughing junk. I can't wait to feel better. I have not been shopping (Wal-mart, Target Etc.) for over 2 weeks and I really need to get out.

Milestones

Okay, I realize this is not some huge milestone. The time has come in my boys life to switch from little kid clothes hangers to big people hangers and it makes me sad. They are getting so big and their shirts are falling off of the little hangers. Let me know if you have a need for little hangers, I have some laying around now.

Last night Mitchell had two loose teeth right next to each other. One was a lot more loose than the other. He was messing with it all night and I knew he would not sleep until the really loose one was out so I convinced him to let me give it a little wiggle. We were standing in front of the bathroom mirror (Mason was with us) and I had a good hold on the tooth and started tugging. Mitchell was trying his hardest to mumble something to me while my hand was in his mouth.......wrong tooth, wrong tooth. OOPS!!! So, last night both of the loose teeth came out. There was a lot of blood but like all children when it was all over he was very happy. I am pretty sure that was the last two teeth Mitchell will ever lose!! Why can't kids have a pause button?

We drive by almost everyday!

A little over 2 weeks ago this was our house.

This is it yesterday.

It seems to be moving very quickly right now.

Eric has to go to Little Rock for work and we are going with him. We are leaving today and won't be back until Thursday. It should be fun for the kids. They all love hotels and swimming in hotel pools. It is a 5ish hour drive and we have to go in two cars because of all the equipment Eric has to take with him. I am not a big fan of driving long distances especially with out my back up referee in the car. Wish me luck!

Now we can breathe.....

We are getting pretty settled at my grandma's house. The boys have their room with the Wii and their T.V. We are set up in our room and things are seeming easier. We can actually find our stuff now and we are not living out of boxes and suitcases.

I thought I would give a day by day of our vacation with pictures if I have them.

Sunday May 25th we flew in to San Diego. McKinley loves to fly and talked about it non-stop. We flew in a pretty little plane from OKC to SLC.

All was great until Mitchell got sick. He really did need the bag. It was gross and not a stress I needed on that little plane.

When we landed in San Diego we took a bus to the car rental place and picked up our rental. A Toyota Highlander. I really need that car. It was nice.

Our first two nights we stayed in San Diego. We stayed at an Omni. Have you ever stayed at an Omni? We got it on priceline. I am not fancy enough for a Hotel like this. By the time we left Eric and I were joking to not make eye contact with anyone or they might expect a tip. It was very nice but, like I said, toooooo fancy for me. There is a sky walk that connects this hotel to Petco Park where the Padres play.

Our first day in San Diego (Monday 5/26) we went to the San Diego Zoo. It was okay like I said in another post. The kids had fun and we went for a tour on a double decker bus which the kids thought was great. That night Eric took the boys to see
Indiana Jones and Me and McKinley watched Enchanted at our hotel.

Tuesday the 27th we went checked out of our hotel and drove to Carlsbad for our day at Legoland. There were some really cool cities made out of Lego's.

Tuesday night we drove up to Anaheim. On our way we had to go through the Border Patrol. I guess we are really white because they just waved us through. We thought the experience was funny. We got to our hotel which was a Marriott. It was a great hotel and a perfect place for us. We loved it and stayed their for 5 nights. It was a suite with a living room an bedroom. Very comfortable and not to fancy.

Wednesday, and Thursday we spent at the Magic Kindom. Fun Fun Fun!! McKinley's favorite ride was Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Mitchell and Mason liked all the rollercoasters. The boys were brave this year and rode everything!

At some point on Thursday bad luck struck and Eric lost his Blackberry!! This little device is vital for his work so first thing Friday he went to T-Mobile and bought a new Blackberry curve. While it is very upsetting that he lost his Blackberry Pearl I think he was secretly happy to upgrade to the Curve.

On Friday 6/30 we went to Disney California Adventure. Mason rode his first upside down roller coaster!! It was pretty exciting for us all. We watched the Pixar parade and took front row pictures. I bet you wish you could see them. Yeah, so do I!

On Saturday 5/31 we went to Universal Studios. And guess what, I have pictures from this point on!!! WOOHOO!! We went on a tram tour at Universal on Saturday evening and then early Sunday morning they had a huge fire. We were one of the last groups of people to see the giant King Kong on that tour. He was completely destroyed. It's really sad. I remember seeing him when I was a little girl. The park had to close for the day.

Here he is

And Skull Island

Set from War of the Worlds

My family with Shrek

We watched an animal actors show where we got to see a real life Penny!! It was the highlight of McKinley's day!

Driving in towards Hollywood

On Sunday 6/1 we headed back to San Diego. On our way we stopped in Long Beach (you know, the LBC, birth place of Snoop D-O double G). We stopped to take pictures of the Queen Mary.

We took the Pacific Coast Highway the whole way to San Diego. It was a long drive but it was totally worth it. So beautiful!

During our drive we took a detour in Newport Beach and walked around the temple grounds. The landscaping was incredible!

Sunday night we stayed at the Marriott Del Mar. It was a little bit fancy. There were couches and curtains and stuff around the pool. And we just had two double beds (you do the math).

Monday 6/02 was our last day of fun. We relaxed a lot, Eric took the kids swimming while I packed our things. Then we went to an outlet mall on the border of San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. It was pretty interesting to be walking around this outside mall and at the same time we were looking at the border fence between the U.S. and Mexico.

Tuesday 6/03 we flew home. This time in a 737 and not a tiny plane. No one got sick and it was all around pleasant.

Now it is back to real life.
